8th July 2010 Management Committee Meeting
EPFL, Switzerland
The Management Committee met in Lausanne on 08 July 2010 to review progress of the project to-date. The following topics were reviewed and discussed:-
- Workstream No 4 (“Stage Specific Screening Methods”): report on the workshop held in Geneva on 26-05-10, hosted by TDR.
- Workstream No 5 (“Using Chemistry to Understand Biology”): report on the workshop held in Liverpool on 05-07-10. This will be supplemented by a video conference on 19-07-10 with US-based invitees who are unable to attend the face-to-face meeting.
- Review of plans for the two remaining workshops that will now be held in October.
- Review of the plans for the Expert Advisory Group (EAG) meetings on 07-09-10 (hosted by the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) and on 02-11-10 (prior to ASTMH Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA). Membership of the EAG was also discussed in order to ensure the right balance of expertise and geographical representation.
- Review of the Communications Plan and dissemination activities to-date. The acceptance by Malaria Journal of the introductory paper was noted. The need to drive more activity on the website from the malaria community was discussed and ways to generate awareness and interest was discussed at length.
- Review of the plans for an evening event at ASTMH Annual Meeting to present the results of the Consortium’s work.
- Various organisational and reporting issues.
