Meeting with the members of African scientific community
The Consortium will be taking advantage of the meeting of the Multilateral Initiative for Malaria meeting (MIM) in Nairobi to hold a briefing session on the project for key figures in malaria based in Africa. This will be an invitation-only meeting. At this meeting, the attendees will have the project explained to them and will be told how they may be able to help its work and input to its deliberations.
Meeting Outputs
The CRIMALDDI Consortium took advantage of the MIM Meeting in Nairobi to meet with members of the African malaria community and to present the CRIMALDDI project to them.
The CRIMALDDI Initiative was greeted warmly by the attendees. There was interest expressed in the use of natural products and plant-derived compounds as the basis for discovering novel antimalarials. This is of increasing interest to the African scientific community. The Consortium members agreed to look closely at whether one of the workstreams could include this as part of the theme.
